In a previous blog, one of our CM2 Media staff posed a question on the minds of many in the creative industry: “Can AI replace human writers?” The article delved into using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for SEO content writing and its practical and ethical concerns. The piece generated a lot of discussion amongst our team.
To get a sense of our opinion whether AI can replace human writers, we talked to three members of our team: Digital Marketing Coordinators Mikayla Rinaldi and Paulina Cwalinska and Digital Strategist Jason Cox.
Will AI Replace Human Writers? A Marketer’s Perspective
Mikayla Rinaldi
Digital Coordinator Mikayla Rinaldi has a “love-hate relationship” with AI. “I think it’s really good for research,” she explained. “Finding out what’s trending, what people are searching for most right now with whatever topic I’m interested in, finding all the latest stats or news on things that would take up a lot of time.”
Mikayla also sees value in using AI platforms like ChatGPT for a quick spell check, explaining, “It’s also good for grammar, so sometimes I can just put my copy into it and see if it is grammatically correct, and it’ll save me a lot of time.”
However, she definitely sees the limits of the technology. “When it comes to writing captions generated just from AI, I don’t like it at all because viewers and consumers want authenticity,” she said.
While AI may be useful for generating ideas or checking copy for errors, Mikayla doesn’t see it as particularly useful for connecting with audiences. She finds the social media captions that ChatGPT generates generic and repetitive. “Consumers aren’t dumb. They will catch on and realize that your caption is the same as other people’s captions.”
For Mikayla, it all comes down to the blandness of AI writing: “it lacks personality.”

Paulina Cwalinska
Our other digital coordinator, Paulina Cwalinska, shares similar sentiments to Mikayla, explaining “I love AI for research purposes. for coming up with topic ideas when I don’t know what to do. I like to just type into ChatGPT and figure out what I could post about this month or what might be trending.”
Paulina also has concerns about the tone and style of AI: “I do think it lacks a bit of the personal touch, or like the varying brand voices when you have a bunch of clients,” Paulina says.
However, Paulina enjoys messing around with AI to see what it’s capable of, often leading to unexpectedly funny results. “I do love playing around with AI image generators, though. They’re not the best images. I wouldn’t actually use them on social media, but they’re funny, and they’re great,” she says.
“And sometimes it’s like ChatGPT is having a little war with you, and they won’t create what you want. And it’ll keep creating more of what you don’t want,” she laughs.
A Brand Strategist Perspective
Brand strategist Jason Cox takes a practical approach to using AI platforms like ChatGPT, explaining, “From coming up with copy ideas or even just having a starting point for something I need to write, it’s been fantastic.”
However, Jason continues, “Relying on it purely from a writing standpoint beyond the ideas of how it’s written is terrible. It’s so wooden.”
Jason clearly sees AI being used to replace human writers elsewhere—and it’s obvious. “I feel like now I’ve seen many, many examples of things that have clearly been driven by ChatGPT just because of how overly familiar and typical and generic it is—like, to a silly degree.”
The ease with which AI content writing is spotted makes it obvious that it shouldn’t be used as a primary writing tool. However, what the future holds for AI is still anyone’s guess.
Jason is open to AI’s future possibilities. “Two years ago, nobody was using ChatGPT,” says Jason. Now it’s so in our world, so it’ll be fascinating to see where it goes in a year from now.”
Will AI Replace Human Writers? Don’t Count on It — Yet.
Almost everyone on the CM2 Media team agrees that artificial intelligence is not there yet to pose a threat to human writers. It definitely has its uses for quick idea generation or spell-checking. Still, its lack of personality and generic tone of voice make it a liability when it comes to connecting with audiences.
Will AI replace human writers? Maybe. Eventually. But it’s definitely not happening in the near future. Until then, talented human writers will always have an advantage over AI.
